What brings you here?
❤️ Your relationship isn't working the way it used to?
Perhaps you're arguing about the same things, feeling disconnected, struggling after an affair, or wondering whether your relationship can survive?
Couples therapy isn't about deciding who is right or who is wrong. It's about understanding what is happening between you and finding a way forward. This can involve thinking about how far backwards we need to think about in order to move forwards in a direction all parties are confident in.
You
🧠 Something has happened, and you're still carrying it
Trauma doesn't always stay in the past. It can affect the now in so many ways, relationships, emotions, confidence, sleep, disturbing your sense of safety and the way you see yourself in the moment or when you are least expecting it.
I offer individual psychotherapy and EMDR, including intensive therapy where a more concentrated approach may be helpful.
Your family
👨👩👧 Family life has become difficult
Families change. Children grow. Relationships become complicated. Sometimes everyone is trying their best and things still aren't working.
Family therapy can help you understand the patterns between you, rather than simply looking for someone to blame. Neurodiversity and complicated step family arrangements are something I have vast experience in working with.
Therapy that fits for you
⚡
There isn't one right way to do therapy.
My approach is systemic, relational and integrative, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on you, your circumstances and what we're trying to achieve.
We might work together regularly.
We might use EMDR or another trauma-focused approach.
Or sometimes it makes sense to create more space and work intensively for a period of time.
The therapy should fit for you not the other way round
Sometimes change needs a little more room
Some things are difficult to explore in a 1 hour session squeezed into an ordinary week.
Intensive therapy ranging from half a day to two full days gives us more time and space to focus on something that really matters to you.
It can be particularly useful for trauma and EMDR, couple and family relationship difficulties, or when you want to dedicate some concentrated time to making a change.
There's no need to decide whether intensive therapy is right for you before you get in touch. We can talk about what might work best.
You don't have to know where to start
Choosing a therapist can feel surprisingly difficult.
There are lots of different approaches, qualifications and therapy names, and it can be hard to know which one applies to you.
You don't need to work that out on your own.
We can start with what is happening in your life now, what you'd like to be different, and what might help.
From there, we'll work it out together.

Who I work with
A little about me

Jane Winson MSc UKCP
I'm Jane.
I'm a UKCP-registered Systemic Psychotherapist and Supervisor, with extensive experience working with individuals, couples and families through difficult and complicated situations.
I'm particularly interested in the things that don't always fit neatly into a box: relationship breakdown, affairs and betrayal, neurodivergence, parenting and family difficulties, trauma, major life changes and situations where you're simply not sure what happens next.
My work is collaborative and down-to-earth. You don't need to have the right words, a perfect explanation or a neatly organised story.
You just need to be ready to start talking about what's happening.
